Elizalde "Kid" Camaya, popularly known as Kid Camaya is best known as one of the finalists of Pinoy Idol where he reached the 4th spot.

Personal life

Kid Camaya, was a consistent honor student in his elementary and high school days, graduating Magna Cum Laude in college. After graduation, being one of the chosen few to join the Ayala Young Leaders Congress (a group of top students from different universities in the country), He was hired, at a very young age (20), as an Assistant Branch Manager of the Bank of Philippine Islands. His passion for singing resurfaced though, prompting him to quit his promising job as a banker, and pursue a career in singing.[1]

Early career

KID CAMAYA was first seen as a finalist in GMA 7's 2008 Pinoy Idol where he was predicted to win the title, however, due to the scoring system which was solely based on text votes, he was booted out of the contest a week before the final showdown. At present, he is making waves in various bars in Metro Manila, with his own band, "the Soulfools". Last Feb. 10, 2009, he had his first major concert, a successful fund-raising show held at the Music Museum for the UST Dept of Pediatrics’ Alay sa Bata Foundation, which sponsors indigent patients admitted at the UST Hospital Clinical Division.

Together with his band "SOULFOOLS", Kid Camaya had some regular gigs in Bagaberde in Pasig, Quattro Bar in Timog Avenue, Moomba in Roces Ave., Technowave Tomas Morato, Watering Hole Shangri La Edsa[1]

Pinoy Idol performances

Kid Camaya auditioned in SM Mall Of Asia in Pasay. He was chosen to be in the Top 24 and thus, making it to Top 12 where he performed the following songs according to the week's theme.

Unexpected elimination

It was a big shock and disappointment after Raymond Gutierrez said that it was Camaya's turn to go home. Members of the press during the live show stood and some walked-out of the SMX convention center immediately. Even the judges weren't expecting that Camaya had been eliminated just before the finale.

before the elimination, the judges were asked who they think will win, Ogie Alcasid expected Kid Camaya to be the winner, Jolina Magdangal rooted for Ram Chaves and Kid Camaya on the Finale, While Wyngard Tracy predicted, it's a three-way battle for Daryl Celis, Jayann Bautista and Kid Camaya.

Kid Camaya appeared in some of GMA Network's shows including SOP, Sis and The Sweet Life with Lucy Torres - Gomez and Wilma Doesn't, Eat Bulaga, and Master Showman.

Album News

Ogie has a lot of good things to describe Camaya's talent. He [Camaya] is one of Ogie's bet right after the Top 24 were chosen.[2] According to reports, Ogie will be producing Kid Camaya’s album, together with Robby Navarro and Penelope. "[2]

In 2009, Kid Camaya launched his first solo album entitled "SOUL SESSIONS".Though there were no reports on the sales, the album got great reviews from music bloggers, and reviewers.SOUL SESSIONS
